How One School District Improved Their School Nutrition Program and Ignited Student Engagement

Santa Barbara Unified School District (SBUSD) is a California school district comprised of 21 schools and serves serving over 15,000 lunches per day. SBUSD makes all of the meals they serve from scratch and sources many local ingredients. SBUSD’s Food Services team takes great pride in their innovative menu items, quality ingredients, responsiveness to their students’ evolving dietary needs and preferences, and eco-consciousness. To help communicate this (and encourage healthier eating habits), they chose Nutrislice digital menus and signage.

The Challenge

Before Nutrislice, SBUSD Food Services struggled to communicate menu changes effectively, which created angst and confusion amongst students, parents, and staff.
